A New Villain Leaps Into Captain America: The Winter Soldier
A new bad guy will be lining up to take Captain America down in the upcoming sequel. Latino Review learned that UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has been cast in the film as Batroc the Leaper. There aren’t a lot of details at this time, so we don’t know just yet how big of a role Batroc will be. With Winter Soldier taking place shortly after The Avengers, it could be something as quick as a short mission Cap takes on for S.H.I.E.L.D or it could tie in with a larger threat from Bucky (the titular Winter Soldier) and Crossbones.
You can learn all about Batroc at his Wikipedia page, but the gist of it: Batroc is a thief who speaks French and English. He is a mercenary with a conscience, turning against clients he thinks deceived him into committing his crimes. Batroc has no superpowers, he is just in peak physical condition with amazing agility and reflexes. As you can tell from his name, he is a great leaper who can jump higher than most. St-Pierre probably landed the role because Batroc specializes in a French kickboxing style. I’d say Batroc is all but officially confirmed. It was written by someone other than LR’s resident hype man. What do you think about Batroc‘s inclusion? Do you think St-Pierre is a good fit?
