A Call Goes Out For A Young Bruce Wayne In The GOTHAM TV Series
The other day we posted the rumor about the possible plot of the pilot episode of the upcoming Gotham TV series focusing on a young Jim Gordon. The rumor said that Gordon‘s first case would be a very famous double homicide. Many people’s knee-jerk reaction was that it was the murder of Tomas and Martha Wayne. Well tonight a new casting call has given that rumor a lot of credence.
Feature Film Casting has posted a casting call sheet for the show that describes a young Bruce Wayne. They’ll be going pretty young too, announcing they are looking for a 10-year old boy for the part:
A 10-year-old Bruce Wayne is among the roles that are now being cast as series regulars on the upcoming Fox TV series “Gotham” which explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that made Gotham City famous. Under development for over a year, the project has now been given a direct-to-series order by the network, which won an intense bidding war for the Warner Bros. Television rights to the show. Shooting on the pilot episode will get underway in March, 2014 and will center on Gotham City PD rookie homicide detective James Gordon who investigates the double murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne.
So Bruce Wayne will at least make a brief appearance in the pilot to help kick things off and establish the world of Gotham. We know Bruce‘s story, so it’s probably a safe assumption that his appearance will be a one and done type deal. It seems a lot of things are set in motion with the Wayne‘s deaths and the years between Bruce‘s time in training and his return as Gotham‘s hero. This casting call also reveals that the pilot will start filming in March 2014. That would make it a pretty good guess that Fox would air the pilot as part of their new fall lineup. Toward the bottom of the announcement it also says that as of late Friday night (December 6th) no roles have been cast.
This gives us a pretty good idea of where executive producer, head writer, and showrunner Bruno Heller is going with the series. While Gordon will be off solving all manner of crime, the one case that changes everything will be the one that begins the series. What do you think about a young Bruce Wayne appearing in the pilot?
