31 in 31: Day 12 “Let the Right One In”

Day 12 of 31 in 31′s movie is “Let the Right One In” directed by Tomas Alfredson and written by novelist John Ajvide Lindqvist. Released in 2008 to widespread critical acclaim this movie was shown to me by one of my friends claiming that it was one of the best vampire movies to date, and he did not lie. The basis of this movie is there is a boy Named Oskar whom is bullied at his school, he winds up meeting a peculiar girl named Eli who we find out, with time, is a vampire. Oskar then finds love, and revenge with Eli in what is possiblly the most horrific and stunning scene I have witnessed.
This movie is a mix of vampire love story, horror, thriller, coming of age (for Oskar at least), and revenge. If given the choice between the orignial and the remake entitled ”Let Me In” this one wins every time, the remake was a decent example, but lacked some of the heart, and fluidity that the orignial effortlessly came by. This is a definite watch for any vampire and Halloween movie fans out there.
