1990s FLASH Star John Wesley Shipp Joins The CW’s FLASH Pilot
The CW has cast original 1990s Flash TV series actor John Wesley Shipp has been cast in the upcoming Flash pilot in a mysterious role. The Hollywood Reporter has the rundown on the Dawson’s Creek star’s role on the upcoming Arrow-spinoff series.
According to THR, Shipp has been cast as a guest star in the pilot as a mysterious character. If the show is a success, which it looks like it will be, Shipp‘s role will be bumped up to recurring status. Now we’ll just have to wait and see who Shipp will be playing, but speculation is already running wild. The dream choice seems to be Jay Garrick. It would be a very fitting role, but that might be a harder character to introduce into the world created by Arrow. Shipp‘s Flash series ran for a total of 22 episodes from 1990-91 on CBS. It’s something of a cult classic now that it’s out on DVD, so it’s nice to see the showrunner’s want to get the actor involved.
The Flash pilot will begin filming soon and the best guess is that the show will air toward the end of this year. There is one big role left to fill, but Grant Gustin will star as Barry Allen/Flash, Tom Cavanagh was recently cast as Harrison Wells, Jesse L. Martin is Detective West, Candice Patton is our Iris West, Danielle Panabaker is Caitlin Snow, and Rick Cosnett is Detective Eddit Thawne.
